About this role
Under the direction of the Management team, the Accounting Associate is responsible for preparing complex individual, corporate and partnership tax returns, researching tax issues, and completing special projects as they arise. The Associate follows the company procedures to meet firm-wide requirements.
- Develop efficient work habits producing work that is accurate, organized, and timely. Prepare accurate workpapers and manage open items. Handle routine client tax questions and work with client to collect necessary information for tax return completion and compliance.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments of varying size and complexity within given timeframe (3week turn around) and budget.
- Review returns prepared by staff and interns.
- S/he practices effective communication when planning and completing tasks.
- Proactively seeking assignments, research, helping others, seeking feedback, and keeping others informed of available hours.
- Continually work to increase quality of work through asking questions and being receptive to review notes and feedback.
- Responsible to develop and maintain strong client relationship on all assigned clients through quality and timely service and communication. Own client relationships and related work.
- Work closely with staff and interns, and assisting management in mentoring, coaching, training, supervising, and evaluating staff.
- The Senior Associate promotes GBG at every opportunity possible -with the firm, client referrals, recruitment of candidates, etc.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 3–5 years of proven experience in accounting is required.
- Must have experience in U.S. Tax preparation, processing.
- Experience in U.S. Tax review is an advantage.
- Candidate having experience with U.S. federal and multi-state returns is preferred.
- Must have hands-on experience with multiple tax and accounting software platforms.
- Excellent communication and client management skills are required.
